Greece cont'd: Athens

Athens was great, much better than I remember the last time. The acropolis is really cool, but I felt like I got a slice of the local life here more than anywhere else on the trip when I've just been a tourist with a number...

Hotel Lozanni was a little dodgy but I got to meet a really cool girl named Kirsty there. She was Australian, and in Greece for the Olympic games (she was going to be in the opening ceremony), we hit it off really well and ended up spending the better part of 2 days together which I really enjoyed. We walked around town one day and the next night went a hill by the Acropolis. It was really cool up there, people just hanging out, enjoying the view, and singing folk music to the sound of a guitar.

Athens is going through a reinvention, they are trying to get it ready for the summer olympics which start in August but the Greeks are way to relaxed and nowhere near getting ready fast enough. The olympic stadium is not even finished yet and the hotels are all in a big construction phase since the government is paying 40% of the tab for remodeling them.
